Welcome to Exile on Newbury St.
It started with a simple question: can three (sometimes four) old friends convince each other of the greatness of their record collections? We ended up talking about 100 of our favorite albums of all time, and you can catch up on all of the fun here.
Now the game has changed: this season on EONS we’ll be talking about some of the best-selling albums of all time. Each Wednesday, one of us will pitch an album from Billboard’s Top 20 Albums of the Year from 1970 to 1999. Best of all, we’ve already conducted a secret fantasy draft and have picked our personal favorite years, so there won’t be any repeats (yet).
The rules are the same: an album needs to get at least 2 votes in order to make it to the Newbury Street collection, otherwise it is exiled forever. The pitcher gets 500 words and each response gets 300 words. You still can’t pick greatest hits or live albums, because that’s cheating.
Your voice matters most: the best part of EONS is hearing your thoughts, opinions, and stories about the records we pitch. Please make sure to listen along, tell all your friends about EONS, and leave plenty of comments.
