Welcome to our world, Bob. However, I think may have unwittingly encouraged him to go deeper into the thesaurus moving forward.

Thesaurus? Never. Some of us just happened to pay attention when studying Ovid's "Metamorphoses" and are currently working their way through Hades on the Switch 2.

...and next week's album features a song called "Prometheus".

This was the first album I thought of when we decided to do live albums. But when Don led off with Dylan, I felt like they were too similar to do back-to-back. So I shifted to Tesla (much to Don's chagrin). I come back to the Massey Hall album every few months and especially in the fall for some reason (Harvest?). It never gets old for me.

Looks like Mario Lanza has a handful of live records.

I’m just throwin’ it out there.

Nice review. Neil's one of my favorite artist, and although he 's not for everyone, this album really covers what an acoustic show should be like. Fortunate to have seen many versions of Neil!

If this one weren't successful, I would have given up on this blog. I hope you keep the live albums going because there are many really interesting ones out there.

Absolutely! I could list a bunch, but for me (and since Jackson Browne's been a subject of back and forth with you all and me on a thread years ago) Running On Empty would be an excellent one. It's the first live album ever to be made completely on the road, with all new material written specifically for the purpose of releasing a live album after the tour finished. I know that some feel that it represented Browne's departure, to some extent, from his more thoughtful, thematic, albums, but in fact this is the ultimate theme - doing the thing you're singing about, while you're singing about it!

I love “Running on Empty”. Of course, it’s hard for me to say anything negative about JB’s music, so my opinion is slightly biased.

I knew this would be a successful pitch. Incredible album. Big fan of NY. However...I stopped reading when Mitch used the word Sisyphean. I had to look it up and didn't head back. Sorry

"Tantalean" was actually my first choice.

I don't carry a thesaurus with me, so its tough. I hope I don't get exiled from Exile on Newbury St.

This album is good enough for me to remember listening to it the first time. It was a show from decades ago but still sounded fresh.

Neil has other excellent live albums. Whenever someone asks me for an album recommendation to help them get into Neil Young, I usually suggest a live album. Do they prefer the acoustic stuff or the noisy stuff? Unplugged or Weld are my usual suggestions. I think "Live at Massey Hall" is an album for fans only.
