I agree with CJ. I'd go anywhere (and have 3 times) to see Mayer play guitar with Dead and Company. They let him rip THEIR songs, not his, and he is damn good at it. Fortunately, his whiny, lazy vocals are not heard when with the Dead, but oh man is his guitar heard - better than with Anastasio, and at times, Garcia. I went back and listened to this album again before shooting my mouth off, and to confirm that I do not care for Mayer on his own. With the exception of "Bold As Love" and possibly "In Repair," this album seems more like Mayer on qualudes. It's too bad because he is an amazing guitar talent and he just wastes left to his own. This album in not worthy and Mayer is not a blues player. Blues, Jr. - I like that.

Mayer did something with blues that hadn’t been done before. I won’t equate it with Dylan going electric at Newport, but I think both you and CJ are making the exact case on why Continuum should be on Newbury St.

Naught eve Nurture. Nature (music’s nature) has a clear definition of a blues scale. When you get to nurture though, BB King had a very different background than did Mayer. So it’s natural that they do different things with the same style of music.

Thanks as always for contributing. We love the feedback

The only time John is better than Garcia is when Garcia was forced to play "Samba in the Rain". You take that back! John's Dead-inspired albums "Born & Raised" and "Paradise Valley" are really strong, too. "Queen of California" is a sweet jam.

I just said "at times". Garcia could get a little lazy, probably drug induced, in the bootleg music I've heard. I'll give those others another listen too. My son believes my opinion of Mayer is all wrong too.
